Participant’s consent and agreement

  1. Eligibility and Registration
    1. Participants must meet the age and category requirements listed in this form for this year’s competition.
    2. Each team must register through the official WROBd registration form before the published deadline, providing complete and accurate details for every team member and the coach.
    3. Registration fees, once paid, are non-refundable, except where WROBd cancels the event outright.
  2. Rule Compliance
    1. Participants agree to follow the official World Robot Olympiad rulebook and any supplementary rules published by WROBd for this edition.
    2. WROBd may issue rule clarifications or updates before the competition. These updates are binding on all participants, even if issued after a team has already registered.
  3. Code of Conduct
    1. Participants, coaches, and accompanying guardians are expected to treat judges, volunteers, staff, and other teams with respect throughout the event.
    2. Abusive behavior, dishonesty, or interference with another team’s equipment or performance may result in disqualification under Section 5.
  4. Judging and Final Decisions
    1. All scores, rankings, and rule interpretations issued by the WROBd judges and organizing committee are final.
    2. No appeals, protests, or objections will be considered once a decision has been announced, whether it concerns scoring, a technical ruling, or any other matter connected to the competition.
  5. Disqualification
    1. WROBd reserves the right to disqualify any participant or team at its sole discretion, at any stage of the competition, whether or not a specific rule has been broken.
    2. A disqualification decision made under this section is final and not open to appeal.
  6. Photography, Video, and Media Consent
    1. By participating, the participant and their guardian permit WROBd to photograph and record video or audio of the participant on competition day.
    2. WROBd may use, edit, reproduce, publish, and distribute this material, in whole or in part, in its original or altered form, for any purpose it considers appropriate, including promotion, archival records, press coverage, sponsorship materials, and social media, without additional consent, notice, or payment.
  7. Health, Safety, and Liability
    1. Participants take part at their own risk. WROBd, its staff, volunteers, and venue partners are not responsible for injury, illness, or loss of personal property during the event, except where this results directly from their own negligence.
    2. Each team must submit emergency contact details and disclose any medical condition relevant to participant safety at the time of registration.
  8. Equipment and Materials
    1. Teams are responsible for their own robots, tools, and materials, including transport to and from the venue and safe storage during the event. 
    2. WROBd is not liable for damage, loss, or theft of personal equipment brought to the venue.
  9. Intellectual Property
    1. Teams retain ownership of their robot designs, source code, and related project work.
    2. By registering, teams grant WROBd a non-exclusive license to display their team name, photographs, and project descriptions for purposes connected to the competition and its promotion.
  10. Personal Data
    1. WROBd collects registration details, including names, ages, school affiliation, and contact information, solely to administer the competition, publish results, and communicate with participants and mentors.
    2. This data will not be sold or shared with third parties outside these purposes without separate consent.
    3. Participants and guardians agree to provide any additional information reasonably requested by WROBd for registration, data verification or event administration purposes.
  11. Schedule Changes and Cancellation
    1. WROBd may reschedule, relocate, or cancel the competition due to circumstances outside its control, including venue issues, or safety concerns.
    2. WROBd is not liable for costs participants incur as a result of such changes, including travel or accommodation expenses.
  12. Fair Play
    1. Participants may not interfere with another team’s robot, workspace, or performance at any stage of the competition.
    2. Use of pre-built commercial kits or code beyond the limits set in the official rulebook, and submission of another team’s design as one’s own, are treated as rule violations under Section 5.
